Whoah! My new album FIERCE FEELINGS is taking off like a big ass bird! The sales on this one, while still modest, are through the roof compared to my self titled debut solo album of 2008. I'd really like to thank everyone who ordered it and everyone who preordered it knowing that I give away my music for free. I love it. That's the kind of support independent musicians should receive!

But I don't slow.

My next project is already in the works. It's going to be an ultra sparse but groovy hip hop album without so much focus going towards super catchy hooks. Most of my latest material has been uberpoppy (on purpose), but this promises to be exceptionally fucking gritty.

DAY ONE: after a late start we all pulled together and recorded two full songs for the new Bluntsworth E.P. The really special thing about this release is that all of the music was done by experimental sludgecore metal group VINZ CLORTHO which should incite much sonic mayhem. We plan to do this album in one week but we forgot that this week is Christmas time week annual holiday so it's a damn good thing we're ahead of schedule! But can the momentum continue??? We're pretty much just sitting around here on the compound waiting for FIERCE FEELINGS to come back from the duplication plant. But we're not just a bunch of lazy fucks, hell no. We keep busy.

But, You ask, how? What are you doing to keep your minds nimble?

Well here is a bullet listed rundown on some of the many projects going on in the Third Floor Studio:

I'm making a sample pack called "Meal Time". It will feature all original samples and an awesomely funny theme.
To go with the sample pack I am making the definitive Chupa Cabra House Kit. Both of these will be free for download.
We are recording a new very experimental Bluntsworth album. The music and arrangement for the album was created by Chupa Cabra House Records longtime experimental house metal band, called VINZ CLORTHO. Bluntsworth will be in charge of conceptualizing arranging and doing all of the vocals for the album. The kicker? We're doing it all in five days. Think we'll be able to pull it off?
Working on the solo album by MANBEAST of THE SUPER SMASHED BROS
We are currently recording some new songs by Jim Dick and Danny Karro.

So don't think we're not busy unless you want the doo doo smacked out of you.

Yeah! I did get the master sent off last week to OASIS CD, so maybe I'll actually hit my self imposed deadline of the first of the year for this record release. That would be...unusual. The album will be right here available for download at midnight the first minute of 2010.

If you like to remix music I'll have all the tracks here separated as stems so you can do the album correctly instead of the way I did it!

Spending this last weekend mastering the record. It's an important and time consuming process. Also no one should master their own material due to a lack of distance from the material, but it's expensive so I do it myself. Unprofessional. LOL.

It was a pretty productive day in the ghetto third floor studio, considering there were like at least six people in there and only two maybe three actually recording. But that's par for the course. I'm getting used to it but I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

Man, this record. (Shaking my head) I'm not even sure I even made a hip hop album this time. I really love different sounding songs but I may have crossed some invisible line. Some songs are kind of like pop punk or something, or synthy indie rock, others I have no idea how to categorize. On the other hand there are quite a few solid rap style songs and one that could even be a club hit (Although the content is complex human emotions instead of, say, liquor and pussy....not that there is anything wrong with that!) I 'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything but I think this is my best album ever and I just hope the next one will be too. And the one after that! Ad infinitum! :]

The studio smelled like a dead body for the fifth day in a row and I continued my ongoing and epic ribbing of Bill the downstairs guy with the epic and ongoing claim that the smell was actually the aroma of a decaying whore that he stuffed in the rafters. He rather creepily admitted that she was in the closet. I'm like "Ha Ha?" Hopefully it's just a squirrel or rat or some shit. Also Bill was pretty drunk which is annoying until a certain tipping point where it's just as funny as fuck.

Jim Dick came in and laid down the last of his vocals. He's really becoming a part of the Timm Tayshun sound both live and on record. We should be working on a new record by him really soon and I hope to be a big part of it. It's probably just going to be a collection of his solo songs but I'm not really sure! I love surprises, my fam!

Album's almost finished, one last day of recording, then mixing and mastering. Then off to the duplication plant. Unneeded plug, I use OasisCd.com and they are pretty dang awesome.

Working with Kyle from ex River Valley indie legends An A+ Setup on the artwork for the album. I'm really excited about what this collaboration could produce because I've always admired his designs. I'm pretty sure he designed a lot of A+'s shit.

Because no one but your friends and maybe your greasy old grandma are going to buy copies at first. Sure, you might sell a couple here and there at shows and if you really acquire a nice regional fan base you might get rid of a couple boxes.

Yay! People are hearing your music you worked so hard on.

But make a.torrent file and upload your music to a couple p2p sites and you'll have thousands of downloads in days.

Sure, you might not be making any money off of that plan, but you'll have people the world over becoming familiar with your name. Ten and twenty years ago that was unheard of.

Barf Makeout-Album Review

Take a mix of 90's era punk, some chugga chugga breakdowns, some crazy Tulsa kids, and an unhealthy obsession with blowing chunks. Mix that shit in a bowl and microwave on high for a couple minutes. What will emerge is BARF MAKEOUT.

There are definitely some stand out moments on the album, particularly the opener THEME which starts off with a sample of the "complete and total barf-o-rama" scene from Stand by Me before busting into a major key buzz saw riff. Before long I had the catchy hook stuck in my head. "This is the barf! Makeout! Theme song!"

YOU'RE SO CUTE is a nice little love song wherein the singer confesses that his love interest is so fetching that it makes him want to throw up. Of course.

There is at least one departure from the main pukey theme of the album, the last song IMAGINARY MILITARY which seems to be angry pseudo-political punk rockery.

Even more impressive there is a song called TOBY KEITH that is all of 3 seconds long, including the cowbell count off intro. Beat that motherfuckers.

Way more catchy and fun than the name might suggest, BAPTIZED IN BARF is a fun release from handmade CDR record label Squidtone out of Tulsa.

I wonder if BARF MAKEOUT has another album full of puke stories left in them, or if they'll move on to, say, diarrhea next?

What else can I say? This album made me throw up in my mouth a little.

Hey guys. I've just been mastering the Super Smashed Bros album and trying to round up all of the artwork before I can send it off to the printer. Go to www.SmashedBros.com to preorder that shit.

I've been working on my live set a lot lately. Remastering and remixing the tracks, changing volumes and such. My live show has enough raw songs that end to end with no breaks they take up one hour and twenty minutes. Realistically that equals two different hella cramped 45 minute sets. So who's booking?

I ordered another power amp for my PA system to power the 2 new Kustom monitors. I also finally got a stage snake so I don't have to be right up on the stage when doing sound. It's a fifty foot 12 channel 4 return job, and I got it at 7ballmusic.com out of conway. Props. Also my cd player I use at shows was stolen from the third floor studio, probably by homeless people (don't ask), so I got a new one of those as well. It's a rackmounted Gemini with a remote. lol. People have been asking me about the PA so soon I'm going to write something about that. Keep an eye out.

I've been to the darkest slums on the internet looking for a cheap (free) and easy way to embed an mp3 into a post here on my website. No dice. Sure there are a million different ways to do it but most of them require you to host the mp3 on your server (don't have one) and futz around with messy html, css or a combination thereof. The others cost money.

What I want is a website like flickr for mp3s. Like photobucket for mp3s.

Confession: I know it's kind of ghetto but I use blogger for all of my websites. 10 bucks a year for my own custom domain and free hosting? That's what I'm talking about. But unfortunately there is no easy solution to embedding those pesky mp3s and as a musician, sometime I needs me to post some mp3's!
