Take a mix of 90's era punk, some chugga chugga breakdowns, some crazy Tulsa kids, and an unhealthy obsession with blowing chunks. Mix that shit in a bowl and microwave on high for a couple minutes. What will emerge is BARF MAKEOUT.
There are definitely some stand out moments on the album, particularly the opener THEME which starts off with a sample of the "complete and total barf-o-rama" scene from Stand by Me before busting into a major key buzz saw riff. Before long I had the catchy hook stuck in my head. "This is the barf! Makeout! Theme song!"
YOU'RE SO CUTE is a nice little love song wherein the singer confesses that his love interest is so fetching that it makes him want to throw up. Of course.
There is at least one departure from the main pukey theme of the album, the last song IMAGINARY MILITARY which seems to be angry pseudo-political punk rockery.
Even more impressive there is a song called TOBY KEITH that is all of 3 seconds long, including the cowbell count off intro. Beat that motherfuckers.
Way more catchy and fun than the name might suggest, BAPTIZED IN BARF is a fun release from handmade CDR record label Squidtone out of Tulsa.
I wonder if BARF MAKEOUT has another album full of puke stories left in them, or if they'll move on to, say, diarrhea next?
What else can I say? This album made me throw up in my mouth a little.
